Amaroq Weiss | Nature Walks | Lessons Learned

Editorial: Nature Walks
This Weeks Read: Jack Kornfield & Vanda Scaravelli
The Hard Wired: Amaroq Weiss
+ The Teachings:
3 ways to reduce stress.
+ The Pranasphere Podcast Update

Hi Friend,

All of nature’s landscapes have offered a safe haven — not just for me, but for countless souls before me. They provide a grounding no philosophy or practice possibly could. Nature is the beginning of all philosophies and practices.

Rumi once wrote, “Somewhere beyond right and wrong, there is a garden. I will meet you there.”

Nature itself is that garden. When we walk in it, the ordinary dualities — right and wrong, success and failure, self and other — begin to soften. Duality helps us navigate daily life, but it can also imprison us in comparison and judgment. Non-duality is what the forest whispers: that the opposites belong to one fabric, that the walker and the path are not separate at all.

Neuroscientists affirm what mystics have long said — that walking in nature recalibrates the nervous system, synchronizing breath, heartbeat, and thought into coherence. What science calls integration, the old teachers called wholeness: the recognition that life is not split, but already one.

And so, whether in desert, forest, or mountain range, walking feels less like forward motion and more like returning — returning to a home that was never lost, a wholeness that was never broken, and a love that has been underfoot all along.

The Lesson: Ground yourself in nature, my friends, and your inner nature will always feel supported.

This Week's Reads

A must read for yoga teachers that ties directly into the above editorial.

Awakening The Spine by Vanda Scaravelli

And for my second book I'm choosing a book that ties directly into the inner landscape, our inter nature.

A Path with Heart by Jack Kornfield

“We need a warrior’s heart that lets us face our lives directly, our pains and limitations, our joys and possibilities.” Jack Kornfield

I will be sitting with one of my teachers later this week & thought it would be appropriate to re-introduce the first book I've read by him:

I was given this book by Tim Miller of the Ashtanga Yoga Center in Encinitas.
The timing was absolutely perfect for me to read this book and Tim knew it in his wisdom.

Jack Kornfield reminds me that the journey itself, with all its struggles and joys, becomes meaningful when walked with awareness, compassion, and a heart that stays open. Using his own experiences as an example he speaks of the dangers that we are often faced with an "open" heart.

Both are a must for any true seekers bookshelf.

⚡The Hard Wired

The Hard Wired is a term I use to represent people (authors, thought leaders...), subjects, places, etc. that I tap into on a regular basis and most likely will go to see in person or already have...

Throughout my years of teaching, I've been introduced to many amazing people, some of whom I've met briefly in passing and others I've been fortunate enough to spend quite a bit of quality time with. Amaroq Weiss and her husband are two of the latter. They were kind enough to let me live with them and their two wolves for quite a while as I recovered from a difficult break-up. We have remained friends for almost three decades now. I would like to suggest that you take a moment to explore the meaningful cause Amaroq dedicates her life to supporting. I believe that most of you here would find her work quite fascinating, especially if you are an animal lover such as myself.
